Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to the MediTime Privacy Policy. At MediTime, we are deeply committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of your family. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle data in our medication timer application.

Privacy-First Design: MediTime was built with privacy as a core principle. The app functions as a Progressive Web App (PWA) that stores all medication timing and dose information locally on your device, not on our servers.

This privacy policy applies to both the free version (MediTime Lite) and premium version (MediTime Pro) of our application.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Local Device Storage Only

MediTime operates exclusively with local device storage. This means:

  • Medication Timing Data: All information about medication doses, times, and family member names is stored exclusively on your device.
  • No Cloud Storage: We do not upload, sync, or store your medication information on our servers or in the cloud.
  • No Account Required: MediTime does not require account creation, login, or personal identifiers to use the app.

2.2 Purchase Information

For MediTime Pro purchases, our payment processor collects standard payment information:

  • Payment method details
  • Billing information
  • Transaction ID

This information is necessary to process your one-time payment for MediTime Pro. We receive confirmation of your purchase but do not store your payment details.

2.3 Limited Technical Information

We collect minimal technical information to improve app functionality:

  • Anonymous app installation statistics
  • App version information
  • General device type (mobile/tablet/desktop)
  • General usage patterns (without personal identifiers)

This information is completely anonymized and cannot be tied to individual users.

3. How Your Data Is Stored

3.1 Local Storage Technology

MediTime uses standard web browser local storage technologies to save your medication information directly on your device:

  • localStorage: For storing medication timing data, family member profiles, and app preferences.
  • IndexedDB: Used in some cases for more complex data structures related to medication history.

This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly choose to share information with us (such as when contacting support).

3.2 Data Retention

Since all medication data is stored locally on your device:

  • Data retention is controlled by you
  • You can clear app data through your browser settings at any time
  • Uninstalling the app will remove all stored medication information

Important Note: Because all data is stored locally, uninstalling the app without backing up your data will result in permanent loss of your medication tracking history. Currently, MediTime does not have a backup feature, though we plan to add this functionality in the future.

4. How We Use Your Information

Since we store virtually no personal data on our servers, our use of your information is extremely limited:

  • App Functionality: The information stored locally on your device is used solely to provide the core medication timing functionality of the app.
  • Purchase Verification: For MediTime Pro, we verify your purchase to unlock premium features.
  • App Improvement: Anonymous usage statistics help us improve the app's performance and usability.
  • Customer Support: Information you voluntarily provide when contacting customer support.

MediTime does not use your data for:

  • Targeted advertising
  • Profiling or behavioral analysis
  • Selling or renting to third parties
  • Creating user profiles

5. Information Sharing and Disclosure

5.1 We Do Not Share Your Medication Data

Since your medication data never leaves your device, we don't share it because we don't have access to it. This design ensures maximum privacy protection for sensitive health-related information.

5.2 Limited Sharing with Service Providers

We work with the following third-party service providers:

  • Payment Processors: To process purchases of MediTime Pro. These providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle your payment information.
  • Analytics Services: We use anonymized analytics to improve our service, but no personal or medication data is included in this analysis.

5.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by law or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to:

  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Protect and defend our rights or property
  • Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing
  • Protect the personal safety of users or the public

However, since we don't store your medication data, we cannot provide this information even if requested.

6. Progressive Web App (PWA) Functionality

MediTime is designed as a Progressive Web App (PWA), which affects how data is handled:

  • Offline Usage: The app functions completely offline after installation.
  • Local Installation: When installed, MediTime creates app shortcuts on your device but still maintains all data locally.
  • Service Workers: We use service workers to enable offline functionality, which cache app resources but not personal medication data.

7. Analytics and Cookies

7.1 Limited Analytics

We use minimal analytics to understand basic usage patterns:

  • Installation statistics
  • App feature usage (anonymized)
  • Error reporting to improve stability

All analytics are anonymized and contain no personal identifiers or medication data.

7.2 Cookies and Similar Technologies

MediTime uses limited cookies for essential functions only:

  • Functional Cookies: To remember your preferences (like dark/light mode)
  • Analytics Cookies: For anonymous usage statistics with IP addresses anonymized

Our website may use additional cookies, but the MediTime app itself uses only the minimum necessary for functionality.

8. Children's Privacy

While MediTime is designed for families, including those with children, the app itself is intended to be used by parents and caregivers, not directly by children under 13 years of age.

Since we don't collect personally identifiable information, the risk to children's privacy is minimal. However, we encourage parents to:

  • Monitor their children's device usage
  • Assist children with any app interactions
  • Be aware of what information is entered into the app about their children

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.

10. Your Data Protection Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: Since your data is stored locally on your device, you already have direct access to it through the app.
  • Correction: You can modify any information directly within the app.
  • Deletion: You can clear app data through your browser settings or by uninstalling the app.
  • Objection/Restriction: You can customize which information you enter into the app.
  • Data Portability: Currently, MediTime doesn't have export functionality, but this is planned for future updates.

For EU users, under GDPR, or California residents under CCPA, you have specific additional rights. However, since we store minimal data, most of these rights are automatically satisfied by our privacy-first design.
